There are a lot of things I would do differently if I could go back in time. If I could have a “do-over” for some of the choices I’ve made, that would be great! But, since we can’t turn back time, I have to live with the decisions I’ve made in the past.
Which timeline of my life I would like to change? The most obvious answer is my teenage years. I was an angsty teenager who made a lot of poor decisions, very poor decisions. If I could go back and talk to my teenage self, I would tell her to calm down and think things through before she acted on them.
Even though I wouldn’t change everything, there are a few things that spring to mind when I think about things I would change.
- Start learning about things like financial literacy and personal development. I was never taught about these things in school and it would have helped me out a lot in life.
- Building good habits sooner. Things like working out, eating healthy, and meditating are all things that I wish I had started doing sooner.
- Develop skills that I will enjoy for the rest of my life and making money from it will be a bonus.
- My mindset. I would tell my younger self to worry less, stress less and just enjoy life more. Everything else will work itself out in the end.
- Don’t depend on my parents for my future. They love me and they want the best for me, but at the end of the day, it’s my life and I have to make my own decisions.
- Work on my relationships with family and friends. This is something I still struggle with today and I wish I had started working on it sooner.
- Be more patient. This is something that I’m still working on today, but I definitely would have saved myself a lot of heartache if I had been more patient in the past.
But, without these mistakes, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. So, even though there are things I would do differently if I could go back in time, I’m grateful for everything that has happened in my life, good and bad. It has made me who I am today. I’ve learned a lot about myself and what I’m capable of. And, for that, I am thankful.
